Can I Bring Bikes or Canoes?

Sadly we cannot allow bikes or canoes on The Black Dog.

How Will I Know Where I Can Moor?

You are allowed to moor on the towpath side of the canal free of charge, as long as you are not causing an obstruction. There are privately owned sites where there may be a charge for overnight mooring but these are well sign posted.

Can I fish from the boat?

Fishing and fishing equipment is not permitted on board The Black Dog narrowboat.

Can We Bring The Dog?

Here at The Black Dog we happily welcome 1 well behaved dog at no extra cost. We ask that you bring bedding and towels for your pet and that they be kept off the sofa and bed and do not eat off the crockery. We also ask that your dog is not left on the boat alone at any time. Please bring the dogs bowls.

Where Can I Leave My Car?

We have allocated parking for 1 car at Barbridge Marina. We regret we cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to hirers’ vehicles while parked at the marina.

What If We Bump The Boat or Break Something?

Accidents can happen and it does take a little time to acclimatize to handling a narrowboat. Thankfully you will not be cruising faster than 4 miles per hour so any damage done should be minimal. You will have agreed to leave a fully refundable damage waiver of £200 which should cover anything minor/breakages.

What About Insurance?

We strongly recommend that you take out personal holiday and cancellation insurance.

The Black Dog and its contents are insured with Collidge and Partners.

We do not provide personal holiday insurance covering cancellation, injury, or loss or damage of personal effects.

What If Something Goes Wrong?

We are available via telephone to help with any problems that may arise. During your boat handover we will leave you with a bespoke manual for The Black Dog that will help with any troubleshooting.
